The autumn 2023 issue of THRILL RIDE – THE MAGAZINE brings you twelve tales not led by Western white males, including my contribution, “Spooked.”

I couldn’t resist writing a thriller story set in El Salvador during the early 1980s. The majority of US personnel in the country at that time were males, many of them active-duty military or working for the CIA. All believable protagonists in an international thriller.

But they’re only background for my story, told by a Western white woman who isn’t looking for thriller action when she volunteers to serve at the San Salvador embassy.

Twenty-four-year-old Casey Collins wants to see for herself what’s happening in the war-torn country.

She gets her chance to investigate when another woman invites her on a plane ride to the eastern edge of El Salvador. Where Casey hears enough to get herself in real trouble.
